Stops all desk after preschool children were afraid of Atkins movie – NRK

In mid-January it was announced that a set of parents went to review a preschool in Malmo in Sweden. The reason was that they had shown the film “Alfie Atkins and the Beast” from 1978.

According to the newspaper Sydsvenskan child should have had “sinister nightmare,” and was still afraid of the Beast, a week after the movie was shown.

– Preschool showing too much film without any pedagogical rise to it, enter the parents in their complaint.

Besides that preschool can not view the movie, the school management in Malmö decided that staff daily to hang up a notice in the hall so that parents know what current activities are. In addition, there should be a follow-up meeting between parents, staff and preschool boss.



Filmmaker despair

Sydsvenskan writes that Alfie Atkins writer and illustrator, Gunilla Bergström, has no comment on the matter.

But Pelle Svensson, who filmed Atkins and the Beast and who later sat in culture management in Malmo, is highly critical of the decision.

– I am distressed when I hear this. It’s not just dicke-dick in Bergströms Atkins books. Both books and films deals with the reality children exist.

He said that there could be a million children who have seen the film, but this is the first time he hears that someone has been frightened of seeing it.

Preschool chief says that none of the parents have complained that the imposition film top.
