BERGEN (AP) Kurt Nilsen (36) is “the whole of Norway” poinsettia. But when peace descends on him be alone with her boyfriend Oda.
In this interview with VG he talks also about Christmas success – and an almost embarrassing next accident.
He filled not Bergens venue just once – but four times before he turned and went to his girlfriend Oda Rivrud to celebrate Christmas this week. Not in Bergen, not on his famous guitar cabin but in Lier, where boyfriend comes from.
Kurt Nilsen: Tops flow-list
For only 14 years ago was Kurt Nilsen also in the Hall, where he finished this year’s Christmas tour on tiny Christmas Eve. Specifically on the roof and installed pipes.
– There was a lot of isolation. Froze as f .. hands, he said.
The dream became reality
Plumbing Nilsen had a dream – to pass the that artist. In 2003 the youngster with crooner-voice straight to the top not only in Norwegian Idol – but he swept all resistance of the path of the International.
Kurt: Big on VG-lista

Occurs among friends
Kurt Nilsen is no novice anymore. Where he was wide-eyed and fresh in 2003 – is 36-year-old a seasoned stage performer today. He mastered many genres and has many successes behind him. He has routines: He sits with glasses on and Klunker on Grieghallens massive grand piano as VG meet him.
He’s trying out something musically. And he likes to get to know the audience before concerts:
– I have to take into the saddle. Sit in it, thinking that here is full of people in a few hours. Perhaps just as in football, the away team will train on the pitch before the match. The difference is that I meet just friends, people cheering for me, it feels the way.

His plate with classic Christmas music has become one of the country’s best-selling since it came out in 2010 – despite the fact that it only got dice 2 at VG Contributor:
– It was a bit special to get a deuce, it was the many with it, Radio Orchestra among others. It shows once again that the reviews mean little for sale. Things like getting a five, sells nothing but what gets a deuce, sell year after year.
Kurt’s own Christmas preparations have also started to become a tradition, he admits:
– I do not like to be home before Christmas, I will hit the road. It has been like that. But it’s good to be back home in Bergen for such a trip. In a way it feels like a dream has become reality – from the time I was working on the roof here.
Kurt: Did annual salary of 3.4 million.
Kurt Nilsen will be celebrating Christmas without kids this year. Marte, Erik and Lucas, respectively 19, 16 and 10 years being home. Father even going to Drammen, Lier and celebrate with his girlfriend, Oda Rivrud, as he looks and often allow themselves to be photographed with the social media like Instagram.
A tradition is broken thereby; Christmas on the guitar cabin in Eidfjord where Kurt and his family have celebrated Christmas since the lodge was completed in 2008. Last year was going celebration only with Kurt and children, after Kurt and his wife Kristin parted year in advance.
Christmas traditions were nevertheless followed, revealed Kurt Nilsen in a VG interview last year:
– We are not so concerned presents in the family, it is about finding peace, and enjoy themselves together. After breakfast, which the kids always eat at eight o’clock on Christmas Eve is the time before Christmas porridge – and where we look for the amygdala. But I have to give it to the smallest. “I found it,” he shouts. “No shit, Sherlock” I think!

This year, says Kurt this to celebrate without children.
– It’s no big deal now, when they are so big. Christmas is about the kids. And adults who have fond memories of Christmas. I envy all the kids Christmas. But I was with my children on Sunday gave gifts admonished that they would not open before Christmas Eve, he laughs.

Kurt Nilsen said from themselves TV2 job as a judge in Idol one year ago, to drive with your own stuff. What is this?
– I have made own thing. Songs. Have all the demos ready. I have tried different genres, including pop, crooner and country. Now I want to try something completely new. It will fluctuate, and it will be damn fun. And it will captivate anyone other than myself. What it is, is not entirely clear, now we gather band over New Year and start playing, see what it turns into.

But the Christmas celebration in Bergen this week could easily gone down the drain, he admits. He comes right from the chiropractor who has tried to fix him as best he could:
– I got on the phone with my girlfriend and was going to close a window and drag in a curtain with other hand. So I take a step back, and pulled on a shoe – and then I lose completely the balance! Curtain juts one way and I fall backwards – straight up in my suitcase! Just remember that I still kept in the phone and assured that – here it goes just fine!
But painlessly, it was not – and Nilsen struggling to get on both jacket and dress.
– You know, when you’ve been too long on tour. But slop, it’ll pass, he smiles.
