(Dagbladet): California Governor Jerry Brown has given Robert Downey jr. a Christmas gift in advance: Actor Stjerna was Christmas Eve pardon of a 19 year old drug offense. There the news council said.
Downey jr. was sent to prison when police found heroin, cocaine and a gun in his car in 1996. pardon does not erase the verdict or the ratio of straight history, but provides inter alia Downey jr. back right to vote at elections.
According to Governor Brown’s pardon also a public manner to give the person, in this case Downey jr., praise for exemplary behavior in the period after the verdict. Film Stjerna has been sober in recent years.
– Robert John Downey Jr.. have now paid their debt to society and deserve a full and unconditional pardon, according to a statement from the governor.
Robert Downey jr. has recently experienced tremendous success with “Iron Man” films. He belonged to the 1980s “brat-pack”, and his big break came in the film “Chaplin,” which he also received an Oscar nomination for.
For a long time Downey jr. far more known for their substance abuse than their acting skills, but it has turned sharply in recent years. In 2015 he was for the second consecutive year Hollywood’s highest paid actress.
Downey jr. has not commented on the pardon publicly yet. Pardons at Christmas is a tradition in several places in the United States.
