In absolute figures went more to the cinema to see “Star Wars” in Norway than in both Denmark (60,000 tickets sold) and Finland (approximately 49,000).
– It’s always nice to beat the Danes. They were the beaten out of handball world championships yesterday, too, and now we turn them to the movies, says Warendorph
Best opening ever
– This is the all-time record visits to the cinema in Norway on a day. We’ve turned the last “Harry Potter” movie, which topped the statistics for best opening day in theaters in Norway, she says.
“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2″ came in 2011 and sold 81,469 in the first day.
– I sit with stars in their eyes. Opening sales are also far above both “The Hobbit” and “Lord of the Rings.” We are very happy, says Warendorph.
Belief in record weekend
The 209 Norwegian cinemas will show the new Star Wars movie during the forthcoming premiere weekend.
Pre-sales have been formidable.
– Wednesday Premiere always gives a drop on Thursday and then take it up again at the weekend. It is still difficult to say where we end up overall after Sunday. What I hope and believe, with this opening day, is that we are also going to have the biggest opening weekend in theaters, says Warendorph.
