Godfather villain is dead – VG

Can not remember the name, so you can probably remember the role of the American actor Abe Vigoda made a breakthrough with.

Tuesday he died, 94 years old. He passed away at his home in New Jersey, said his daughter, Carol Vigoda Fuchs, the New York Times.

Vigoda played the treacherous mobster Salvatore “Sal” Tessio in classic film The Godfather in 1972 and in continuation Godfather 2 ( 1974).

In the movie plays Tessio a friend of the Corleone family who in an attempt to take over power, concoct a plan to kill Al Pacino’s character Michael Corleone. The latter sees through what is about to happen and ensure either that Tessio are the one who must “sleep with the fishes.”

His co-stars Robert Duvall said in a statement quoted by the Hollywood Reporter that Vigoda will be missed.

– It was wonderful working with Abe in “The Godfather.” We had some nice moments together and he will truly be missed.

After The Godfather films have Vigoda had roles in several films, in addition to its role as the eternal complaining police officer Phil Fish in sitcom series Barney Miller in the period 1975-1977.

Vigoda playing alongside stars such as Al Pacino and Marlon Brando in Francis Ford Coppola’s epic Gudfaren- movies about mafia family Corleone. The films were notoriously large commercial and artistic successes.

– The Godfather changed my life, said Abe Vigoda New York Times in 2001.

In 1982 came People Magazine to declare him dead by mistake. This turned Vigoda quickly into something positive, then afterwards he posed to the press, sitting in a coffin.
