Superstars dismayed: Fully rebellion against Oscars – TV 2

28. February is the 88 Oscars held in Hollywood.

But this year’s ceremony will, in addition to the glitz and glamor, also consist of conflict and political divisions.

There are still to see who shows up on the red carpet and who is at home.

#OscarsSoWhite

This year’s nomination has namely created fierce debate. All the actors nominated are white. It happens for the second consecutive year, and the reactions have not been long in coming.

20 white actors nominated for their efforts.

On Twitter the answer #OscarsSoWhite, one hashtag which immediately trended on social media.

The first thing that really gave a clear message was director, producer and actor Spike Lee.

On Instagram he made it clear that neither he nor his wife would attend this year’s awards ceremony.

– How it is possible, the second year in a row, all in acting categories are white?

– It is no coincidence that I’m writing this while we marks the Martin Luther King jr. birthday, writes Lee.

The decision not to participate has since been the subject of intense discussion in the USA. On the program Good Morning America said Lee, however, that the US media was exaggerating when they said he boycotted the ceremony.

– I’ve never used the word boycott. All I said was that my lovely wife Tanya and I’m not going. That’s it, and I’ve explained why. I never used the word boycott, said Lee, explaining that Knicks player game that night.

Mr. and Ms. Smith

Monday published Jada Pinkett Smith a video on their Facebook page. The actress is married to Will Smith, who could have been nominated for their efforts in the movie Concussion.

She said clearly that she can not come at the Oscars.

– On Oscar -utdelingen is dark always welcome to give out awards and entertain. But we are rarely recognized for our artistic achievements. Should colored people refrain from participating, all together? People can just treat us the way we allow it, says Jada Pinkett Smith.

The actor his statements really enjoyed starting the debate. Thursday stated Will Smith (47) that he supports his wife, and that none of them come at the prestigious show.

– We are part of this society, but at this time we are not comfortable with stand there and say that this is fine.

– My wife will not, and it had been strange for me to show up with Charlize (Theron), joked Smith.

Dramatic changes

The Academy, which is behind the nominations, responded shortly after. In a letter the committee embarked on Twitter, commented manager Cheryl Boone Isaacs debate.

– This is a difficult but important discussion. And it’s time for big changes, wrote Isaacs.

Now she wants to change the way the committee is working on, and not least – who decides.

– The Academy will make dramatic changes. In the days and weeks will go through how we recruit members, to find the range and variety we need from 2016 onwards, says Isaacs.

She was even elected as the first female African-American leader in the academy in 2013 . Now she thanks for the suggestions for.

– We recognize these highly relevant concerns of our committee. I appreciate all of you who have contacted me in the desire to look ahead together, says Isaacs.

Several committee members hit back at the criticism. Actress Penelope Ann Miller is among those voting voted nominees.

– I voted for a number of African-American achievements, and I am sorry that they were not nominated. But to say that is because we are racists is extremely insulting. I will not be sitting in cubicle, and at least not when I support African-American and their talent in the industry. It was just very tough competition this year, says Miller.

Clooney: – Must be better

Actress Lupita Nyong’o is among those who respond to this year’s nominees.

– The price should not dictate what is art in modern society, but to show the diversity of the best one can offer art today. I stand with those who want a change, writes Nyong’o on Instagram.

George Clooney believes the industry is moving in the wrong direction.

– I mean African-Americans has a good point that the industry does not represent them well enough. We must get better at this, says Clooney.

12 Years a Slave

According to the New York Times, there may be further changes, including in the number of nominees. Sources tell the paper that there may be as many as ten nominees for best film and several nominees for best actors.

Journalist in LA Times, Mary McNamara, believes it is not just race and appearance that is the problem – but the films themselves.

– Just two years after the success of 12 Years a Slave, we get a repetition of nominated films, with white men as victors, despite all odds, writes McNamara.

Last year’s presenter, actor Neil Patrick Harris, said at the opening of the show: Tonight we honor Hollywood’s best and whitest. Sorry, brightest.

This year’s presenter Chris Rock. He is himself African-American, but has not yet commented on the criticism of the nominations.

The artists 50 Cent and Tyrese Gibson believes Rock should withdraw from presenter job.

– Chris, please . Do not do the Oscars. You mean a lot, do not do it, 50 Cent stated.
