Hallvard Flatland and daughter Katarina bald television program together – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): Hallvard Flatland and daughter Katarina Flatland each begins to gain extensive experience as program leaders.

They will lead the live fundraising “Action Sunnaas: From tragedy to miracles” from Sunnaas hospital, where Hallvard Flatland itself was on rehabilitation after the tough period of illness winter 2013.

Flatland explained that he was wheeled into the wheelchair on Sunnaas and went out again on its own feet ten weeks later. It was in February 2013 that Flatlands daughter Katarina confirmed to Dagbladet that television personality was seriously ill.

When there had been one month since the beloved television profile was hit by the very rare HLH syndrome.



30 operations

The syndrome makes the immune system attacks on the body’s vital organs. Flatland went through about 30 surgeries, witnessed both kidneys, liver and heart failure and was three months in a coma.

Against all odds, won Flatland the tough battle. In August 2013 came the message that he was on the mend.

For VG today says Halvard Flatland that he will never fully recover. He still has problems with balance and struggling to move.

– I’ve died nerves in the feet and get tired. The legs are limp. There is much I have realized that I can not do anymore. Like running or skiing, for example, says he told the newspaper.

Nevertheless, he accepted the situation as it is and am grateful and pleased with the life he lives today. Daughter Katarina says it will be very special to lead the television broadcast with his father.

– It will be a very special evening for us. We even got to feel how wonderful the work being done on Sunnaas is. We have the best healthcare system in Norway, but it is also much that is not being covered. This we hope to make a contribution to. For me this is not just a job, I also know the personal motivation. I am very excited, says Katarina Flatland in the press release.



Artists will play

The funds collected during the campaign will go to research and development of new technologies. It will also contribute to activities for children and adults who have found themselves in a tough situation after illness and injury.

More artists will be playing under the program, including Hanne Krogh, Marianne Antonsen, Halvdan Sivertsen, Bjarte Hjelmeland, Rein Alexander and Øystein Baadsvik. Collection campaign is organized by Sunnaas Foundation.

– The presenters have strong personal experiences and a commitment and understanding of the importance of good rehabilitation is. It means a lot that TV2 supports fundraising for the people who need to find a way forward after illness and injury.
