Plate Review: Dr. Dre – “Compton” – VG

One of history’s most anticipated hip hop discs carrying doctoral plunger with dignity.

ALBUM: HIP HOP

Dr. Dre

“Compton”

(Universal)

The infamous LA district Compton has long been a geographic hub hip hop epic has circled around. Once the American dream, before the district was degraded by black middle class brought his crime – at least if one is to believe the narrator who puts the estimate for “Compton,” Dr. Dre’s first album in 16 years, and apparently his last.

Having exposed the mythical “Detox” countless times – apparently because it did not measure up, there were probably many who put heart in my throat when Dre announced a new album last week.

Would he actually drop it this time? And what about 50-årsmerket had given his youthful fingerspitzengefühl arthritis? Had Ice Cube right in 1991 when he believed that Dr. Dre should stick to producing?

16 years is a trial for the patience and interest, that despite the fact that” the world’s best producer “has kept fans heat with both productions for others and headphones. Accordingly, “Compton” one album release that virtually becomes important only in virtue of being longed for.

Fortunately, it is not only the scope of savings expectations that make this a work you enjoy. There are still “2001″ which is his magnum opus, but “Compton” is not going to pull average mark down.

To the album cover and title suggests, GP back in Compton. But unlike nwas heydays in 1988, when they probably could barely make out the gilded life outside the ghetto, he stands now in the Hollywood hills, behind the famous sign now reads “Compton” – as if to throw the glove to the white entertainment business .

After all, the story of his formative years in NWA which is likely to be helpful cinema’s kiosk overturning same film that should have inspired this disc. Nevertheless, one can read the album as a standalone work.

exept for DJ Premier-produced “Animals” – if nineties palette is surgically performed, the sound is on the plate A balanced mix of Dre anno 1999 and the present. With cooperation from young and relatively new names like Kendrick Lamar, Marsha Ambrosious, Asia Bryant, BJ The Chicago Kid, King Mez and Joe Connor, emerges Dre relevant without making convulsive importunate to potential young fans who did not get him in the ground place.

Snoop Dogg seems more inspired than ever in “One Shot One Kill”. “Loose Cannon” is, despite a hideous boring “skit” about killing his girlfriend at the end, west coast rap at its best, which culminates in a cacophony of emotions and noise.

“Issues “with Ice Cube, as for those who are concerned about that sort sampler one tyrkist schlager from 1976 signed Selda, is one of the disc’s clear highs.

The most obvious error reef is Eminem unsynchronized appearance on« Medicine »Mon .

“They want to know if he still got it?” asked Dr. Dre rhetorically in 1999. 16 years later, he can still be proud of getting a “yes” answer.

But it is probably wise to give out while the going is good.
